The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) is community-driven, which means that participating communities take the initiative to draw in new immigrants, match them with open positions in the area, promote a welcoming neighborhood, and establish connections between newcomers and established members of the neighborhood as well as with local services for settling in.
Potential applicants must fulfill the following federal requirements as well as those set forth by the participating community where they intend to settle to be eligible for the RNIP.
1. Have a recommendation from a community that has been identified
2. Have completed at least 1,560 hours of continuous employment over the last three years, or
3. Possess a degree from a post-secondary institution in the local community that was sponsored by public funds.
4. Possess a legitimate offer of employment in one of the approved localities
5. Meet the language requirement for the NOC job’s level/skill requirements
6. Have enough money to settle down and sustain their family in the community
